Students and Staff bid farewell to Stopsley High School building

Former pupils and staff were invited back to Stopsley High School on July 16th for one last fond look around the Stopsley High School building before it relocates to its new development in October. Previous pupils of all ages attended the invitation, with some pupils bringing old memorabilia such as a blazer and a timetable from 1952.

The open invitation gave past students a chance to reminisce, see how the school has changed and catch up with old friends and colleagues.

Karen Johns, headteacher of Stopsley High School, said: “The school has a great history and it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with pupils and staff who have been a part of the Stopsley High School journey. We’re looking forward to the move to the new development and a bright future for Stopsley.”

The new £18million building will feature specific learning spaces for both indoor and outdoor work, a drama studio and performance area, as well as new classrooms for all subjects. New sport facilities are also part of the development including a four-court sports hall and outdoor tennis and netball courts.
